Jean Kennedy hails from County Laois in the Midlands of Ireland. Angela, her mother fostered Jean’s passion for Irish dance when she brought her to her first Irish dance class when Jean was just three years old. Twenty years later she is still under the tuition of the Lynam School of Dance. Jean’s favourite aspect of her work is inspiring the younger generation of dancers to work hard and encourage them to pursue their dreams. The pinnacle of Jean’s competitive career was in 2017 when she was crowned All Ireland and International Champion and placing top five at the World Championships for five consecutive years.
Jean is also a black belt Sensei. ‘Powerful’ and ‘fearless’ describe Jean’s performances on stage and she puts this strong style down to her training in karate. Jean recently graduated from Dublin City University as a Biology and Physical Education teacher but hopes to continue her career as a professional Irish dancer, entertaining audiences near and far, for many years to come.
