Clare McDermott from Co. Cavan began Irish dancing at the age of 3. She has since competed all over the world winning the Ulster Championships in 2007 and placing top 8 at every other major competition including the All Scotland’s, British Nationals, European Championships, North American Nationals, All Ireland Championships and World Championships.
On leaving competitive Irish dancing Clare joined Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance and performed in various venues across the world. She also performed in Feet of Flames along side Michael Flatley in Taiwan. Some highlights of Clare’s dancing career include performing for the Royal family in Buckingham palace, performing in the O2 arena Dublin while filming for the ‘Lord of the Dance 3d’ DVD which was screened in cinemas all over the world and most recently performing in ‘Laochra’ the GAA’s commemoration of the centenary of the 1916 rising that took place in Croke Park. Since leaving the show Clare has completed her TCRG and is a registered teacher with CLRG. She joined Damhsa in 2012 and enjoys
performing weekly in the Belvedere Irish Nights and at various corporate events across the country.
