David McCabe has been Irish dancing for 28 years having started at the age of 7. In 1998, when he was 16, he auditioned for Lord of the Dance and won a spot in Troupe 3, the resident troupe of Las Vegas. He lived there for 6 years with the show until he joined Troupe 1 and remained touring with the troupe for 9 years.
In 1999 he was made understudy for the Dark Lord, only a year and a half after joining the show. He was understudy for a year before taking up the position full time in 2000. In 2003, he was asked by Michael Flatley to learn the role of Lord, the most coveted leading role in the worlds leading dance show. He began playing the role weeks after being asked and continued in the position until his retirement from touring in 2013.
He danced lead for audiences of over 20,000 people and some of his highlights are: dancing at the Ryder Cup in Birmingham in 2002 and meeting Tiger Woods, dancing on the Jerry Lewis telethon broadcast to over 80 million people, and dancing on stage with Michael Flatley in 2009 in the sold out Arena tour.
